  • Help bidding a cemetery

I was asked to give a bid for mowing a cemetery. With all of the head stones how would you price a job like this? Would this be hourly instead of by the acre? They asked for a price for mowing and one for mowing and trimming. Anyone with input?
Thanks for any help you can give!

Your normal mowing rate per sq. ft or acreage, + 15% + 2 minutes per headstone for trimming. If you don't get it, don't sweat it. Cemetarys are a pain in the butt anyway.

I agree that if you don't get, don't sweat it. People that visit the cemetery seem to be the biggest complainers about every little thing. I've had a cemetery in the past and had it looking great by most peoples standard, yet people would call and complain about a few leaves on the ground, scraps of paper, overgrown shrubbery that wasn't part of the contract, the list goes on and on. I always felt like it was just their nature and state of mind while they are there. I guess they probably feel like their looking after their loved ones. If you do bid on it be sure to take in to account the need for extra visits to check on these type of issues and don't take the complaints personally as long as you know your doing a good job.

Rule of thumb (cemetery mowing)... one hour mowing, and two hours trimming ... per acre.
