  • When To Start Approaching Companies About Mowing Contracts

This will be my first year of being in the lawn care business. I was wondering if anyone could give me a range that is a good time to approach businesses about lawn servicing. Right now, I have an ad for any lawn work in the local newspaper but i think that is targeted to more residential customers. Also, is there someone/something that would know or have names and numbers of commercial accounts up for bidding??

Thanks for all your help, Aaron

most commercial accounts you might just need to stick your head in the office and ask to speak with a manager. they might can get you in the right direction.
you're going to need insurance for most com accounts. if i were you, i would start out with the residential side of the biz and get my feet wet 1st. see if this is what you really want to do.

    good luck,

    cjm

I agree, stick with res your frist year, Your going to waist alot of time chasing somthing your not prepaired for. If you do go after comm. you will want to target small properties. Your best bet is to learn the biz first befor you try to run with the big guys.

You can and should approach commercial accounts (any) and (all) times during the year ... by always offering a year round program and (specifically) offering work that is in season at the time you make initial contact. Offer the next needed service ... example a few months ago it would have been snow removal ...
