Getting New Customers!!!! --> Best Ways?

OK...I'm fairly new to the buiz. All I have really done as far as working for people with lawn care was fall leaf cleanups??? I have harvested a few customers form that...Like 5?? - not many. so, I am in need of some of the BEST ways to get new customers. Any posts are much appriciated -

i think it's safe to say just put your flyers out everywhere also leave your card a local cafe or something, you need to target a nice subdivision and place them out everywhere. dont get discouraged if no one calls. i've place many out an not a soul called. i've placed 85 out in one sub and i got 6 houses in one weekend.
maybe a local newspaper, i cant afford to do the yellow pages just yet, my ad would run me about 6,000 a year. it was set up in monthly payments of nearly 500.00 bucks per months, no thanks. free advertisemet is the best.

just be sure to sell all your services to the people, let them know what you do. you might have to offer them a free cut after like the 5th one. something to get them in and let it ride after that.
i offer the 2nd cut 1/2 price and that seems to win a few people over here and there.
