How Good does the Chamber of commerce work?

I was hoping for some imput as to how well the chamber of commerce works. have any of you joined and did it do anything for your business? also are any other type of organizations that work like the chamber or perhaps better? thank you

We have been a member for quite some time. I don't use it to it's fullest. Basically I just use it for the great health insurance rates. They also offer cheaper workers comp rates which I will be looking into. And savings at some of the name brand office supply stores.

It really depends on what YOUR chamber offers, all cities are different. Yours may not even offer the cheaper health care rates. Ours puts all small biz owners into one big group. My rates are just as good as any other large corporation, and the benefits are just as good as well.

thanks Eric, that is great information and many of what you said I was unaware of. what about the chamber for making more business? meaning getting account out of it??

im lookin into joining my local chamber of commerce too....can you pick up a lot of mowin buis from other buisiness that are members?

I'm sure you could get accounts from it. Personally I don't do it. But it's just because I don't like getting e-mails from companies trying to sell me something, so I don't send them anything.

I suppose I could just mail them something instead. But we've been so busy in the past years, I just don't need the extra work. We grow a lot through word of mouth.

But you COULD get accounts if you wanted to. They have get togethers and stuff like that. Our Chamber is pretty big with a lot of members. I've never gone to any of the 'parties' though.



I believe I could get a lot more out of it if I needed to.
