  • How was starting up for yall

Right now I have everything I need to get started, but I just need a kick in the a$$ to get it done. My father says that I should not do it the right way and just keep it going the way I have it now, but I dont want that. I told him that I want this and that I should start now. Right now I only have 15 clients, but I hope that will change after the fliers and newpaper adds. How was it for yall to start up? Im sure that I am not the only one or am I that feels this way. What do yall think?

I have already talk to a Insur. agaent.. that went well. Talked to my tax man said anything that I put into could be a tax right off..thats great. The only thing is here in texas I have to add on taxs to the clients I have now. Thats going to be 2.00-5.00 I dont think that is to bad, but I hope my clinets feel the same way. I also thought of a good name just hope no one else has it Im just going to have to see, but other then that Is there anything else that I may need? Besides a good KICK IN THE A$$ TO GET THIS STARTED. What do yall think?

how come your father says not to do it the right way? You are better off doing it the right way first. Think about it, once you factor in taxes, insurance, and other costs into your pricing scheme, your prices will be different. So if you build up a customer list of prices that don't reflect that, then all of a sudden change, you may lose a decent chunk of customers. In my opinion, you are better off starting the right way. Especially with insurance, if a rock sails through a window, or god-forbid, hits someone, your in big doo-doo.
When you go to your clients about the tax issue, etc; explain to them why. Explain that you are a licensed contractor who is fully insured against things that may go wrong, etc. Hope this helps.

This is new to me, as I am just getting started. I am fortunate enough to have a good friend helping me. He's been in the business since 1991.
