  • golf course (nc)

my accountant did tax work for a golf course mgr and inquired about their greens care.......mgr adv'd that their current contract would be up in a couple months and that they are currently paying out 15g's.....she gave him my contact information so there is a remote possibility that I might get a call with a chance to make a bid.....i don't know the size of the property or anything about it at this point...........do any of you guys have golf course experience that you could shed.....any and all will be greatly appreciated....to me 15g's a year seems a lil low for a golf course unless it's really small....what r your thoughts?

If that includes mowing, that had better be an adventure golf course, or at least a very small 9 hole par 3 course!

$15k per year to mow and apply + additional maintenance for an 18 hole course is WAY to low.

Just re-read what you typed: "their greens care......"

          Greens alone are totally different.
Jeeps are like women.....much more fun with their TOPS OFF!

just for you info, In a past life i was ass. pro of a large 18 hole par 3 course. they spent somewhere between 150-225k a year in indiana. i assume in nc the season is longer so it would be higher.

Cclown, I dont think that you should admit to being an ass pro.

I was just wondering what you found out about that bid? At $15K/year I wouldn't even look at it. Even a small 9 hole par 3 golf course would cost more than that in materials, labor, fuel, and euqipment repair. I've had to laugh and walk away from some commercial jobs when they tell me what they expect and how much the last guy was doing it for.

Nothing yet.......my accountant did taxes for the guy and she gave him my number.......maybe he was blowing her off with that figure to see what type reaction he would get......i'll wait for the call and if he does i will let you know how it turns out.....i'm a check out the course next week to get a visual.......150-225k sounds like more of a workable number to me

I was thinking the same about the price. Sounds like he left off the number in front of 15....lol. Take into consideration that you would need a large tractor with various attachments and preferably outfitted with specialty tires to protect the turf from tearing and rutting. Also, if you don't have experience in Golf Course Turf Management you would want to consider hiring someone with a turf management degree and a lot of experience. After all, it is a high profile job which could possibly make or break your reputation.
