I was wondering how long it takes to mow an acre with this size mower. I will be bidding larger properties and want to make sure Im close with my times. Emark states this mower can mow 4 acres per hour but I figured I would talk to you guys who run them in the field.

1)if the grass is wide open how long for mowing an acre
2)if there are opstacles to go around how much do addtional time do you add to your estimate? 10%-15% or so?
    Thanks
    John

I would figure 75% of what Exmark says for wide open areas and 50%-60% for areas with obstacles.

When they figure 4 acres per hour, they are figuring that at full pace, and no overlapping. I'm not even sure they figure in times to make turn arounds either.

Use those figures like you do for the EPA figures on new vehicles. Not sure where they get those figures but I can't get those acres per hour. It would be nice if they put out a document saying how they get those figures.

I suspect they ran the mower over a baseball/football very smooth field where they can go full speed for a long distance and minimum turns. Something like a racetrack.

What ever you bid make sure you pay attention how bumpy the ground is since that will slow you down quite a bit.

Those are based on "perfect" conditions. We use some 52" Exmark Lazer Z's and the avg. is about 2 acres per hour, some more but not less.

2 acres per hour should be a minimum, one of my accounts is 4.5 acres and it takes me 1hr 10 mins, this yard has plenty to go around. also depends on what size motor you have, i have the exmark 52" cut w/ 25hp. like others said check the bumps.

Wow, 4.5 acres in just over an hr. Thought you had wings on your machine Thanks for clarifying, still 3.5 acres in that amount of time is really good. Thanks for the info.

I run 52's Hustlers and i average 2.25 an hour thats the best i do since most have alot of trees buildings parking lots. There is a lot to consider. I bid my jobs at 2 acres that keeps it simple
