  • New lawn service

Hello, I have had a few years of experience in landscaping but have been out of the loop since 98. Would like to start a mowing service small scale with commercial walk behind. Mowing, trimming and blowing only. Competition is ferocious in my area but the area is growing by leaps and bounds. Any advice for a newbie on mowers, advertising, approach, would be appreciated. Thanks Keith

Buy what you can afford. Brand is secondary. Get some biz cards and make up some flyers.

I started with a used Exmark, look for good used equip (if you are able to tell the diff from the junk) to slim down the risk.

        Good Luck!

Exactly.. others will tell you to buy new because of longevity or some bull crap. Used isn't bad like CMorris said..

Buy New If you can AFFord it.

Buy new and good name brand equipment. First thing is you know what your getting in a new machine. Name brand is important for longevity and quality of tools. Second with enough mowing you will pay for that within a month or two and then some.

Name is Last! Any Commercial machine is good to start with, Look around for an old Bunton or Bobcat you should be able to get one for like $400.00. Make sure the spindles and stuff are good nice tight motor not too much oil consumption. Then paint er up, and you'll look just like the other guys
