  • beging for bagging!

I have a customer that i am quoting or lawn service who wants my to bag his lawn that was sodded last summer. Is this demand lagitimate or should I try to explain to him the importance of thatch? Does anyone have information on the benifits of mulching? Basicialy I am just woundering what the rules are for bagging and mulching and if it is possible to get away without bagging all together.

I operate in western Washignton State and the industry Standard is to bag every residential lawn. It seems that in other parts of the country other guys are mulching the clippings and find it slighly insane to be bagging. I have heard that mulching helps fertilize and keep a healthy lawn. I'm wondering also if Mulching is better (obviously easier) for a lawn than bagging?
    One more for the ditch

Mulching returns a significant amount of nitrogen to the lawn. By mulching, they can reduce the amount of fertilizer required to maintain a green lawn.

The problem about mulching on the west coast is that the grass is never really dry. So it tends to clump really bad and makes the grass look awful. I dont know anyone that mulches.

It isnt just the west coast, spring time here in NW PA is tough until about June. We do bag most of our smaller residential customers.
