I am a small timer. Would the Black&Decker Leaf Hog be a good purchase for making faster work out of leaf removal, and picking up after power raking?

No way. Sucking up leaves with a handheld vac is very time consuming.

I remember trying to use one of those things before I got into this industry. Just to suck up a small pile (about 8' in diameter and 3' tall) it took me an entire afternoon before I finally gave up. With one of those you might be able to do 1 yard a day......maybe.

Rake it into a pile and then run your mulching mower over it until it turns to dust. Then rake it again into trash.

Do mulched leaves actually harm turf or anything? I read somewhere that leaves change the chemical balance in a lawn.
