whats up everyone. gotta ? concerning lawn maintenance subcontracting. friend o' mine has a lawn maintenance & irrigation co..he's really took off in past couple of years in the irrigation dept. & was eventually leaning towards just doin' irrigation. since he cant watch both crews at the same time, & cant find someone to run his mowing crew, he mentioned maybe subcontracting his lawn maintenance accounts out to me. now, i know what i need to charge to run MY operation, but what should i figure in when contracting through him? do i mark up my hourly rate? charge per lawn? keep the same hourly rate, or what? he obviously charges his customers x-amount of $ per week/month, so i'm really not sure what kind of rate to charge at this point, or how to charge him. all advice greatly appreciated.as always. thanks!

Offer to buy them ... but only on a cash flow basis ... nothing down, pay as you go ...

I am subbing for a guy this summer because he picked up to much work. I am going to offer to pay him 15% of what they are worth and just work under his name this year. Because the route is a little out of my target area by it is guaranteed work to have and I need this just starting up. So next year I have the option to keep them or not do it again. If you decide to sub it out I have a contract that my lawyer put together, to protect you the subcontractor. email me. Like what phil said to make sure you get your money.

If you are planing to buy the customers have him send a letter out informing them of the change. .something like this.. Due to unforseen circumstances I will be unable to service your property this year. My former employee blade his worked with me the past year and understands the needs of your property. I have utmost belief that he will perform the same quality job that you have been acustom to. reguards former owner

actually, he did mention selling them. but not till next season. he said he just wants to hold on to them this year just in case their irrigation installs take a dive. but when & if i buy them, would you say that 15% of their worth is an average buying price? thanks again guys.
