    a. the catkins are elongating in the spring. I believe when they grow to mature length of 5-8 cm they droop.
    b. Bark of red chokeberry: Reddish brown, smooth, lenticeled, developing diamond-shaped splits
    c. The reputed flowering period of europaeus varies from author to author, but may occur between late winter and early fall. In coastal Mendocino County, gorse flowers from late winter to early spring (Amme 1983).
    d. common buckthorn has flowers with 4 petals while the lance-leaved buckthorns flowers have 5 petals.

IOW all the choices are incorrect. I would be interested to find out what you came up with.
