  • First Bid of the season

As most of you know I am still a college student well i was sitting in my 8am class today reading on the forum and a continuing ed student who sits next to me who is in his 50's says your a landscaper and I said yeah. Well I have to go give a bid on a 10x30' Bed to be filled with crushed stone and weed barrier. You never know when, where or how you will get work always have your A game with you and always have business cards with you.

    Good Story

    Lesson learned.......
Never burn a bridge you may need to cross or cross again!!!
In other words.....you never know who may be your next customer. By showing a desire for the work and professionalism many doors open.
The green on the lawn and the green in your pocket live in happy harmony.

Exactly. This job is also two towns over and is maybe a days worth of work by myself. But it is launching my business into a new market in which I will have existing advertising(beautiful example of my work) because I will hand out fliers in the neighborhood when the job is completed. The best way to get new business is showing what you have already done.

Good going. Keep in mind that moving stone is hard work, so charge accordingly. You'll probably need 5+ tons of stone for that job.

I really push the stone on my elderly customers as a more permanent solution I charge more to install initially but i'm not coming back every year putting in mulch. Makes fall cleanups easier.
