If you want a 25% profit after taxes, you will want to do a 33% markup.

If you buy it wholesale. double the price.

I try to follow "what the market will bear" principal. Some jobs will yield a higher gross mark up and some a smaller cut. However, you need room just in case somebody wants to "negotiate" you down.

Personally, I always go for top dollar. A local hardware store gives me 10% off because I'm a business. I buy xyz part and mark it up 33% or more because I know they aren't selling anything at suggested list price.

If you don't itemize your bill, then no one is the wiser and they can't quibble over your pricing methods.

New install 3-4 inches depending on customers wants/needs. Usually 2-3 inches for existing beds. We get mulch for $19.00 per yard and deliver spread for $65 per yard with a 2 yard minumim.
