  • Clean-up pricing help

Just did a clean-up job for a guy. I removed and piled up a lot of brush and branches, cut and stacked wood from a fallen tree, blew the driveway and deck and raked leaves and sticks off the grass. Doesn't need to be cut until next week. It was a full 4 hours of non-stop work, travel time not included. Should I just charge my normal labor rate of $35 an hour times 4? The client is a rich dr. ,so money isn't an issue. but I still want to be fair and not take advantage.

    thanks

I just went through the same "what to charge" issue. I decided $35/hr would be fair for labor and equipment since I'm a one man op. So far I have billed him for 22 hrs and it will probable take another 20 hrs to complete. I normally don't take on jobs this large but it's working out so far.

Why is it people think because you do work for a Dr or some other professional that you should charge them more? When i give a bid, i dont look at what they do for a living, i give a price for the job that needs to be done. If they can afford it fine, if not i'm sorry, but i do enough charity work, that i cant do it in my business.

Hope you don't think that I am charging more because he's a dr. As I said in my original post I'm not trying to take advantage because he's a dr.

Yes, charge your normal rate. It often takes homeowners twice as long as it takes us. He will likely think that it is a bargain - a whole days worth of work for $140.

TMiller, i know you said you wanted to be fair, and i comend you on that, i didnt mean to take it out on you. I've just seen quite a few threads that always have something to say about this person is a Dr, or lawyer or money is no issue, what should i charge. Like i said i charge for the job, not who im doing the job for. Sorry i didnt mean to sound rude, but i guess i did.
