Does anyone use promotional product advertising for their business. I talking about the promotional pens, magnets, and mugs you can buy in bulk with your company name and phone number, to give to customers? Thanks for your time.

MSU many people underestimate how valuable using such items can be. Some items are not as helpfull as others though when it does come to promotional material.
Magnetic cards are always a good deal just make sure you give more than one per customer.
Personalized pens do not hurt but rarely would lead to any rememberance factor. We use them since we have a bit of paperwork with each client and as everyone knows people love to "steal" pens. The cost to have them personalized versus generic pens makes it worthwhile.
Mugs/Cups we do not use. Most households that spend the money on our services generally have a pattern they use for kitchenware, so the chance of our mug being used would be slim to none. Not to mention these would be hard to package into our welcome kit.
Custom Calendars work wonderfully. Not only do the get used often and display your company info at all times. They allow you to have pre-printed days and reminders of when to have certain services started and so on. Just do your best to not go with something cheap or your risk them going unused.

Always keep in mind it is alot cheaper to keep a customer than to get a new one. This is why branding is crucial.
