  • Little tree sprouts

I've got these little baby treelets popping up in a bed of monkey grass. What can I do about it? I tried pulling them out by hand, but they just grow back. Has anyone ever heard of putting Round-up on by brushing it on the plant. That way you don't kill everything around it? My neighbor told me about that one. If I do Round-up the sprouts, is it going to hurt the tree itself? Are they connected?

    Would pictures help?

    Thanks,

    Michael

just keep on trying to pull them and eventually you will win out. By the way, my experience has been that a little bit of roundup will not kill monkey grass even if you wanted it to. It may turn it brown for a couple of weeks. Those little trees are probably growing from seeds dropped from the older trees, not connected to the older trees, so roundup wont harm the mature tree's unless you get it directly on its foliage.
