This is my first year using a larger deck mower (52" ZTR) I am noticing that the height has to be set higher than say a 36" deck or you start scalping. Anything less that 3.5 - 4" will scalp if the land is not totally flat. Are they all like this?

I run a 61" Scag TT and don't have that problem unless there's a small mound or I'm rounding the top edge of a hill. In cases like those I use the foot lift lever to slightly raise the deck. You may also want to check your anti-scalp rollers and blade spacers to make sure it's set up correctly.

Some 52" ZTR's don't have the foot assist.a.k.a.---> Erich

Mariner, that seems odd, I would take it back and have them go over the machine. I have heard a lot of good things about those mowers so I suspect something is not adjusted correctly.a.k.a.---> Erich
