    Hi Getter Done Lawn,

What's going to stop this person from going back to those same customers potentially with a new company?

      Getter Done,

I would say stay small while you are young, grow only by refferals of the folks who are currently pleased with your work. This does'nt cost you a thing and frankly you are or should be( at 16 ) at a point in your life where your expenses are largely covered by your parents / guardians. If I could do one thing differently it would be to return home at 16 or even younger, build a small neighborhood route and bank all the money I could for as long as my folks would put up with me. Weather or not a degree is in your future ( my oppinion is that a degree can be a big help, for the right person. ) I do not know. But going slow, not aquiring debt, and saving as much as possible will serve you greatly in later life. Save your profits while you can ( or at least re-invest them into your business ) and you will be miles ahead of every other guy/ gal out there in a few years who finds himself borrowing money and paying interest to build their business while also trying to support a family.
If this does'nt exactly describe your living situation, I appologize. But if it does, honestly ask yourself if you ever see another time in your future when you can live free or inexpensively and bank every penny you make.

yes... this post is months old... and for the record i never bought the company out... i am taking it by referrals for now with some heavier advertising in 2006 but i will stay under a few thousand dollars... today i had a referral and that cheered me up for not getting new customers latley...

also, my business is my life... along with friends of course... i dream of the day i'm 18 and can move out because my home is a living hell... literally... i brought up snow removal tonight and buying a snowblower for $500...my mom went crazy... although i told her all my customers i spoke with wanted it and would pay the average $25 per snow fall over 1".... and would put a non-refundable payment of two payments down in order for me to buy the snowblower... and i am getting 18 drives so thats... $500 per fall which is automatically giving me $1,000 ($500) - with snowblower taken out and another $500 for every fall after that...

            they don't understand anything....

i really feel the only thing they were good for was sigining a loan on my mowers to start out which will be paid off here shortly... after that is paid i am thinking of moving in with a much more understanding friend's parent's...

*sigh* - done with my rant lol

...is it bad to mow right at dark... i was almost done with all my lawns today but one.. i started it at 9:00 - right when it gets dark... i made the neighbor come out to see what was going on... it turns out to be my favorite teacher

well i'm done with this post...
