  • Va. Commercial Applicator License

For Those Starting Out In Virginia Who Don't Have A Commercial Applicators License Like Myself Here Is The Deal. I Spoke With A Lady In The Licensing Office With The Dept. Of Ag. In Richmond. She Told Me The Following:
    1. Become A Technician And Work For Someone For A Year And Take The Test.
    2. Hire Someone With A License For A Year Take The Test.
    3. There Is A Guy Who Offers A 7 Week Course That Is One Day A Week For 8 Hours Each Day. He Teaches This Course Some Place In Goochland. He Offers The Course Several Times A Year. This Is The Only Course She Said That The Dept. Of Agriculture Recognizes As Sufficient Training. The Last Day Of Course She Comes Out And Does The Test. The Guys Course Is Also Geared Around The 3a And 3b Categories.
She Is To Get Me More Info. On Class Dates And Exact Location In Goochland And Send To Me. Will Post When More Info. Arrives In Mail.
This Will Be My Route To Go. Will Do This Winter. To Busy Now.
Casey @ Rrs Thanks For Pointing Me In The Right Direction.

Yep. My plan as well. It sucks but having heard the requirements in other states such as Florida I guess we can't complain. Did she by any chance tell you how much the 8 week course is?

Richard Nunnally is the man's name. He does a gardening show on Va Currents once a month. The course is taught at J. Sargent Reynolds in Goochland. I would advise the winter course instead of the fall course unless you don't mess with the leaves. The course is less than $250.00. The books are extra from Va. Tech, which will cost about $50.00 total. I would call Reynolds and get a schedule and sign up now, The classes fill up quickly and since he is the only one in the state to teach the class, seating is limited. You guys in the tidewater area may want to seriously think about getting your aquatic licenses. Doesn't cost anymore except for the book and Vicky gives you the test the same day. Va Tech didn't send me the right book when I ordered it and I didn't pass the test.

Thanks for the info POW. I'm going to call and sign up next week. I wish the class was a little closer though! I've got a 2.5 hour drive both ways...so thats 35-40 hours of total drive time. It's worth it though I think!

It's true. I'm on the coast and VA Beach is like any other Eastern city...but once you start going inland a bit it gets redneck real fast. Really really fast.

Are you saying I might be mistaken for a Yankee?

Dayum, I'm trying to figure out if I was just insulted or what?

I've never been to Va. but it's on my list now. I got a bad feeling if I went to Va, Beach, I'd probably never leave. :p

Normally all I got to do is open my mouth & shove about 4 or 5 words out of it & I'm instantly pegged a redNeck right off the bat?

I had some smart arse in the shop the other day & you could tell he was from Nu Yark or a few miles from it & the idiot had the nerve to ask me if I was born around here? I said Hell no Bubba, I just moved here from Ohio a few weeks ago, LOL he changed the subject. Give me a break? Everybody else in the shop thought it was funny except him.

If you take these 5 movies...

                      Deliverance
                      Wrong Turn
                      Dusk to Dawn
                      House of a 1000 Corpses
                      Texas Chainsaw Massacre

Mix them up a little bit, sorta like the movie Pulp Fiction, you'll get an idea of what my shop & us look and act like on a good day!

BTW: We are really getting big time at the shop, My wife called the police on a customer Friday Morning & Today when she opened the shop, we found about 5 or 6 broken eggs laying on the front entrance...

We are #1 in Customer Service!

Let me tell y'all something, you have got to be knocking down a lot of repairs & I mean some serious daily numbers to have this happening day to day! (We were closed Saturday through Monday)

Yeah right... when's the last time you heard someone say Thank God my lawn mower tore up & I get to take it to get repaired. I've been praying for weeks my lawn mower would tear up & now my dreams have come true!

Not to many customers come to our shop happy & they sure as hell don't leave happy? We have 1,000's of repeat customers yearly & they still hate each & everyone of us.

Indeed there is my friend. Goochland County is just northwest of Richmond.

Hey all you Hampton Roads guys: If you need help with directions, places to stay, or shops and restaurants, let me know. I live in Richmond and will be glad to help. I am considering taking the class also. I grew up in VB, Kempsville High class of 89'.
