i need to price this job, any help would be great!
i need to dig out old crushed rock between a driveway and a the street(about 2-3 feet wide) and edge the grass to make it look clean. then fill it with nee crushed rock. the length is about 100 feet. What size rock should i use? How much does on yard cover, and how thick should i make it? Is there anything i am forgetting? thanks a lot!!

Just out of curosity why are you taking the rock out if you are going to put some new back in. If a customer wanted that much rock taken out and replaced, I would try to sell clean up a lil of it and put new on top. IF not charge them for it. that would run for a couple hundred bucks.

100ftx? how big of an area would you be excavating? You should lay landscape fabric under the new stone so that it won't get worked into the dirt. You might want to consider 3/4-1inch stone and if your looking for something really big i thing it's called river rock which is about the size of softballs.

Most companys (that sell stone) are going to charge you per ton (small rock) or by weight (river rock). My cost in my area are going to be different than yours, so my price would not do you justice. I would call local distributors and ask them what they charge, if you can get a sample, and show your customer. Including them in the decision making, you cant go wrong, plus it will show you are looking out for his best intrest.
