I was just thinking about the lawncare industry and realized that this buisiness would not exist without ztr's. Does anyone know what year the first ones came out?

actually the business has been around for ever. It is the ZTR's that would not exist. they were built out of necessity. there have been the reel type mowers in the early eighteen hundres. When I was a boy everyone wanted a Japanese gardener. I do say that the zrt's make my life easier. and more profitable. my hustler says they were the first zrt's but that is what they claim I dont know that for sure and I think it was all started in the early sities but I dont know that for sure that is what I heard . have a good season. Yazoo mower I believe were the first ZTR and were originally designed and sold to Golf Courses. They had a third wheel in the rear that was steerable via a chain linkage and individual brakes for each drive wheel. Not real easy to turn but they would go Zero radius. I am not sure what year they came out but remember seeing them in the 1950's.
Fact is the old row crop Tractors would turn on a dime also. However the same Tricycle wheel design made them very dangerous on hills because of roll over. I am only guessing but think they were first invented in the 1920.
