BTW I have been getting Turf Magazine for more years than I care to remember. It is a MUST HAVE Green Industry Publication.

you magazine is ok. lots of advertisement. which is ok for new products. I dont like the bilingual part I am not sure what your Pt. is. but one or two pages in a hispanic magazine would hardly catch my attention. it would not be enough information for me to subscribe to it. the other 100 pagina's would be a loss to me. I sure you have an angle. anyway that is one thing I dont like about you magazine. and most of the scrubs are latino's shoal

That might be true in your location, just north of you in Georgia there's a lot of RedNecks that are scrubs. We can't get racial & decide it's one race of people that are scrubs.

There's nothing wrong with being a scrub for a short period of time, I don't think that many started fully legit... I didn't start fully legit, but I got legal very soon... Some do not have a choice... No big deal, just do it ASAP. When you have to provide for a family & you happen to be a real man, you do what ever it takes and then some?

Continuing to be a scrub year after year is sad & hurts not only the scrub, it hurts his family, friends & everybody he does business with...

There's no excuse for continued failure year after year, due to the lack of being educated on what you do for a living.

There's people out there that are cutting grass for over 5 years that has no clue as to what it cost him to do business per hour, has no idea how to bid & does know what it cost him to operate his equipment or employees... This all leads to failure, continually staying in a rut & winds up worked to death by his business running him into the ground.

All you got to do to prevent the scenario in the above paragraph is keep records & apply your math skills that you've learned by 4th or 5th grade.

I'm highly educated & I only went to school for 9 years & 6 weeks, but I've read more than most folks that went to college for 4 to 6 years. I will quit learning when I die, do you think I feel sorry for CPA's & Dentist that don't even do half what I can on a financial statement. No I just laugh at them...

I feel sorry for people that quit learning when they quit going to school. I feel sorry for all those folks that treat me like crap at my shop, because I'm lawn mower guy & they are in Upper Management. I even feel more sorry for them when they go home to their 1,600sq.ft. cracker box that they owe 20 plus years that has a $1,500 monthly mortgage payment & it's on a 10,000 sq.ft lot, when I go home to my 3,200 sq.ft. cracker box that's on 5 acres, I'm happy but I even feel sorrier when they are older than me & they still so stupid they can't fix their mower or their lives.

Why in the world would anybody want to do the minimal at job performance in this business & continually make minimal pay, year after year after year?

The biggest problems with this industry is lack of education, lack of communication & to damn sorry to use a calculator or their fingers to figure out why they can't make a profit.

What are people going to do when Wall-Mart associates start cutting grass. They are taking over China as we speak.

I love to hear an American say that I will never hire another sorry lazy American again. I love to hear Americans say, I can't make no money because of all the Hispanics. I can't make no money because of all the stupid ignorant RedNecks that have lawn mower shops in their back yard...

Lets just get it all out of the way & blame ourselves... It's our fault & nobody else's.

Work with & Help the guys in your area... You scared too? You must do crappy work or there's no room for competition in your one horse town.

I've made more money helping my so called competition than I ever could trying to hurt them or put them out of business. Just read & learn.

A few years back when I got in the Repair & Retail business, I had no friends that were competitors. I have many now, One of them now buys over $1,000 a month in parts from me at full retail price. Another one sends me work daily and many more also send me work... I love it, they Love me & we even sing the Barney song all the way to the Bank.

I want my competition to make more money, I want them to be more profitable, If I tried hard I could probably fix it where if any Lawn Mower shop looked at a mower they could get $20.00 just looking at it... Oh I've already done that in my area. 10 years ago, I was only shop in town that charged a Check out fee... Now they all do.

Communication & Helping others in your line of work will fatten your wallet, thus getting you the respect you deserve.

I gave a shop 2 Echo PB 400E blowers in the box to sell to people pricing them at my shop, I sold them at cost & they made the sale to the same people I was talking too. What did I get out of it?

Friends for life & when they closed the doors on their shop a little over 7 years ago, they put up a big old sign that sent business to my shop. They even had it about my shop on their answering machine... They are still sending me work today from where they work at, their Church & neighbors.

I lost that $200 profit on those 2 PB 400E, but my friends sent me several $100,000 in business over the years. Run the numbers & tell me who made out.

It's OK to Help others at all cost, you better hope & pray I don't come to your location with 2 rakes & a garbage bag driving a Ford because it's straight up from there & in 3 to 5 years, if I've not climbed to the top & Driving a Chevy & turning $300K to $500K a year my RedNeck azz isn't GrassMaster!

I will make your competition love me & put you out of business in no time. Because I am the Competition!

PS: A sure sign of failure is when you blame a race of people for your downfall. Everybody wants to pass the buck. When you fail it's because you are not prepared... It's OK to fail, just please learn from it by at least the second or third time! Go buy a measuring wheel, use your calculator, go buy Quick Books & actually use it. Success will follow, I promise! Take classes in Business, Book Keeping, you don't need classes on where to purchase the cheapest equipment, you don't need classes on operating Post Hole Diggers?

Thanks for your imput Grassmaster. I should have written "Illegal Hispanic" my mistake. I am originally from Calif. and have seen what the Illegal imigration can do to an industry. not just ours but many from the fast food industry to the green, and the house cleaning industry. You name it. It is a blight. I am doing fine with my work and my company but it goes farther than that. It is a blight for my country and that is more important to me than the business. I cant tell you how many times I have read how some has contracted hepatitis because some illegal imigrant does not wash his hands after using the bathroom. TB is running rampant in this country when we nearly had it irradicated from this country. my intention was focused on the Turf magazine. I said I would not want to subscribe to a hispanic magazine if it only had two pages of english.

Hispanic is not a race but a culture. There are White, Black and Brown Hispanic People all over the world. Some have Blond hair and some have red hair etc. When Spain conquered the world so to speak they brought with them a very rich culture that was instilled in the people they ruled. This Culture is what today is know as HISPANIC. I in fact have Pacific Islander blood or part Asia Spanish mix. But that in fact is a very small part of my heritage. I can in fact trace my family tree back to an indentured servant of William Stanton First Governor of the Colony of Maryland and 1632. My ex wife is pure Pacific Islander Hispanic and of course My children have our blood.
