  • Register at DBA?

I have been toying with the idea of registering my new landscaping business with the dba office but I was told by a few guys in the industry that it's not a good idea unless you're doing signifigant business. Do any of you have any suggestions so I dont lose my shirt come tax time?

Im assuming when you say DBA, you mean Doing Business As? What is the difference with registering it? If registering your LCO is required by your state, you damn well better do it! It shouldn't make a difference tax wise since Im assuming you where planning to pay your taxes....right?

I would consider listening to the guys you know

Depends on the size of your operation, but if you have 10-20 accounts they're probably right. The IRS has bigger fish to fry.

Thanks for even thinking about cheating on your taxes! It doesn't matter how much you make! As long as you make over $400 (I think) you need to pay taxes. Currently many states have tremendous financial burdens. Many school districts are finding themselves having to close schools to conserve money. People that do not pay taxes on their LCO choose to be selfish and not assist their fellow Americans and do their duty of contributing to society! So many lawn care operators think they are invisable to the IRS. I've got news for them.....The IRS has access to every bank account in this country....they simply aren't stupid. You can run, but you can't hide for long.
