Make sure every nut and bolt is tight. Specifically the bolt that attaches the engine to the frame. It's the star head screw that is right in the top middle of the back pad. I have three 8000s and that screw has fell out of all of them until I went through last winter and put thread lock on everything.
If you can remove any screws or nuts that should never have to come loose I'd go ahead and put thread lock on everything the next time you have some down time.
Also, if it suddenly runs erradically then more than likely the choke screw is loose and the choke is bouncing open and close. Just make sure to tighten it every time you take the air intake hose of the carb.
They're awesome machines and I'd buy another without hesitation, but they do have these couple of quirks.

Well guys I used that new blower today .... Worked with my buddy who has the 7001 ... we used to do this industrial building that our friends family owned a few yrs ago and it took us about 30 min to blow off all of the parking lot with 2 decent sized backpacks.. today it took us about 10 min ... im very impressed with both the 8000 and 7001 ... i couldnt tell a whole lot of difference in them just a little ... I got a good deal on the 8000 but if i were going to have to spend a hundred more i probably would say go with the 7001 .. none the less it is still very nice.. now we shall see how it holds up

Jack D. has several 8000's. He has had some problems w/the choke levers, however these are first production run units and problems were expected.
Jack D. leaves his 8000's at the shop when the weather is above 100 degrees as the new Enviro Nut friendly 8000's do not perform well in extreme heat.

Jacqueline D. has all the finest equipment in her mind. Lackie D. is basically a high schooler with a wild dream to one day become a professional lawn jockey but still is trying to get that high school degree. I believe she is still trying to pass cooking class.Originally posted by MASTERMOWERJackie - your quite the show off arent you? Do you even mow or do you just sit in your garage all day with your precious equipment?
Her dad has some lawn equipment which allows her to play LCO instead of playing with dolls. So sad indeed.
