  • Snowplow blade wings???

Does anyone use these snowplow blade wings? Do they actually scoop the snow as they say? Do they actually make plowing faster? How do they work when you go to push snow up & over a curb or when you are plowing along a curb - do they clip the curb? Do they work with heavy snow?

    Thx

Wings? My friend has a deuly and he had a new plow from a regular pickup and he had to put extentions , wings I guess, to make it wider because of the duel rear weels and he bent one of them on a curb and it kinda messed up the path a bit on one side. but I would think if you dont need to lengthen the blade to clear the rear wheels, dont get them. However maybe they would work good if you onlyrealy did parking lots.

I had those a few years back and hated them. scooping snow sounds nice but what really works is plowing at an angle and getting good "throw" . they prevented the snow from sliding off to the side when I had the plow angled, these wings are pitched forward so when you angle the plow they are kinda just even. as far as "scooping" all they did was cause snow to stick to the plow dramatically increasing the weight the truck had to carry from house to house. also they have thick rubber for the bottom edge and it doesnt get down to the pavement well and wears down very quickly. took em off in the middle of the first night, cold! my 2 cents

I put some on my plow last winter, they saved me about 4 hours on my 12 hour route...I bent one once, but a hammer made it better in a few minutes... I would equate it to the difference between a 48 inch deck and a 72 inch... I still threw snow, but I was throwing an extra 30" worth...if you have all residential drives maybe they aren't worth it, but if you do anything bigger, they are great!

I have a set of pro wings on my boss 7.5, makes alot of difference, great for parking lots, but not quite a efficient as my blizzard 810.

              Billz,

So for commercial open lots you like them, but how about when you push the snow up to a curb and then have to lift the plow to push it up and over. Do the wings stick out infront of the plow - so the wings hit first and cause problems with trying to get all the snow up and over the curb? Or how about plowing along a curb? Do the wings allow you to do that?

              Thanks

I never had a problem pushing snow over a curb... they only stick out a few inches...also I like them for plowing along a curb. A V- Plow would be better, but for a couple hundred bucks, the wings are a great investment.

Thanks for your insight - now I would lean towards trying them.
