Refining your own gas?

My grandparents live on a farm. the farm once had an oil pump on it and they still have a 500 gallon tank full of crude oil. Does anyone know how to refine oil to turn it into gas? Any chemists on here? If I cant refine it, should I sell it? They told me they dont need it and I can do whatever with it.

First I think you need to buy a cracking tower...I doubt you'll find one on e-bay though.
I'm curious why they haven't sold the oil. Maybe it is better to leave the tanks full, rather than empty. This was mentioned on here recently as what they do in the gulf before a hurricane to protect the tanks.

You`ll find i apologised in 2 other threads where you followed up behind me ,because i thought you were quite possibly someone else who left the forum, and was on non- speaking, but threatening terms with me....

I jumped to conclusions i shouldn't have ,because i was half asleep when i logged on after checking my mailbox ,and it just seemed to coincidental at the time you would be following right behind in the 3 posts i got within today's time-line....
