if you were starting a new business, what is the latest month you would start in. when do you begin to not pick up new accounts. grasmo.

I have buddy that started in Jul 1999 and is doing quite well. As a matter of fact he was just voted as the #2 or #3 landscaper in town according to the local paper, I don't agree but I guess he runs in the proper circles. If you hussle you can always get new accounts but the best time to start is feb-mar time frame. I'd have to say the worst month for picking up new clients are Nov-Jan unless you want leaf-duty or offer pressure washing

Dec. and Jan. were good for me this year. A couple real nice commercial accts. and a few residential to add onto the schedule.
All were referrals. When I have room to add on I let all my customers know. I always re-pay them for sending me new business. Seems to work well.
Middle of summer is not so bad. You'd be surprised how many people want to change to a new company.
