I know that i'm on a much smaller scale than most of you guys. I've been side tracked by music, and really didn't zero in, but just worked to get by. It's a little better now, my rent's only $500. So, my average monthly is $1600. I have about 20 customers. I also team up with a friend to help with his accounts. We do a 60/40 split for his gas when we work together. Winters are rough, but i'm excited about the challenge after reading this site; it's flyer time! I don't use contracts only because i've tried, and people look at you like you're from mars. For additional work i charge $20/hour for the first hour, and $15/hour after that. I'm really not a money driven guy. I guess my goal would be to get those regular/hot accounts, work them, and enjoy my off time.

By the way im not trying to brag but this is my first season back into this solo and i started with 2 30 dollar accounts and now im on my way to staying pretty busy... and i picked up most of these accounts earlier in the yr. So it goes to show with a little determination and a little work you can succeed in this business. I expect to expand 150 percent by next spring.

He's not making money if he was my business my overhead per hour is 15$.

First year Full time started out the season at 50$/hour and i'm up to 70$/hour.

After Leaves I will have cleared 40,000 for the year after expenses.

I'm expecting to see 6 figures next season and i am not out of college yet. Goes to show what hard work, motivation, a little luck, and responsibility can get you.

i realize that i need to jack it up, but also consider the cost of living down here (louisiana). I'm telling you that none of my customers would pay those rates. I'm getting better at just saying a high number while keeping a straight face.

Most of my work is in Baton Rouge and I easily get $60 an hour for any work besides regular residential mowing. Bump up your pricing and you'll have to work less and winter might not be as hard. Also don't say "contract" it kind of scares people, say "work agreement". NOW is the time to get flyers out with all of the people from New Orleans buying up all the houses around town. I just got 5,000 in that I ordered and next week it's on!
