I keep reading that newbies should go at it only part time in the beginning. I plan on getting started in the spring of 2006. I've already began the process of getting clients under contract for the mowing season. So far I have enough for 3 full days of work and see no reason as to why I can't have 50 contracts and 5 full days worth of work by the time the snow melts. Is the reason many start part time because they just can't get the work or is it deeper then that. I know there are going to be alot of random expenses that many aren't aware of but with a full scheduale covering those expenses should not be an issue. I plan on purcahising a Scag 48" Tiger Cub and a Scag 36 WB. If there is something I need to know about diving right into this full time please let me know.

Be careful...I thought I had it all figured out ....expenses,taxes ,license and such and for awhile there I had more checks going out than I had coming in and I too already had customers lined up ...just cost more then I expected ...did not do enough research ...some people on here will say that "cutting grass is not rocket science" and its not ...BUT....there is alot more involved than just "cutting grass" just make sure you are completely prepared and when you are sure ...check again...and I started out part time quit a really really good job to go full time...I am now back stepping and re-structuring my whole business plan and going back to part time until I am COMPLETELY READY....to make the full time plunge...good luck to you
