  • aerate after seeding

this guy seeded 10 days ago and now wants me to aerate because we have had rain for the last 5 days. the grass is coming up. i told him it was his call but i would rather not unless he was gonna seed it again. i tried to explain to him he should have waited for some rain because of the drought we have had. what would the best minds in lawn care tell him????????

well if he wants you to aerate new seed hes dumb..first i would have aerated then seeded so i would tell him water it heavly and let it grow for a while...was this an over seed or what?

yea an overseed. he asked me if i would tear up the new grass and i said yes, but he still wants it aerated.

warn him...warn him again...but always remember THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT!!!. I still can't figure out what the hell some of my customers are thinking when they have me do some things but they pay well so i let it slide.

what i told him was if he re-seeded again everything would be ok but why spend the extra $$$ ? if he wants to buy the seed then i will do it cause with the rain we have FINALLY had now is the time.

plenty of folks running behind poked holes....or rather non-holes and time wasted.....skip the repeat aerations by performing at the right time

What the hell is wrong with these customers? They think that they must be the lawn care pros. You just wait, as soon as you do there request they will then blame you when it goes wrong and then expect you to redo it again for free. This is exactly why I learned to tell some people no on certain things, I'd rather lose a customer then leave a yard looking like crap, especially when I know there request will not work out. I've been called dumbas_ by a few friends for passing up work, but there is nothing worse then bad advertising and a botched job is just that

If he wants his lawn aerated for the decompaction benefits then I would tell him to wait until the new seed is mature enough to handle it (probably 6 weeks or so) and then aerate and apply winterizer.
