    help choosing a name

    I'm starting a lawn care service that involves no mowing, but only chemical applications including herbicides and fertilizers. I'm trying to choose a name, and am leaning towards The Turf Doctor and adding a tag of Professional Lawn Care and Consulting. I want to be able to market myself as a consultant instead of someone who just throws out some fertilizer.

    I would appreciate any feedback.

    I would check your phone book seems like every town has a turf doctor i'am not sure but it maybe a franchise.

      Don't run into too many folks that are willing to pay a consultant his fee and then a seperate company to do the work.....

          Whatever you decide, make sure your company name doesn't limit your services. Who knows, after a while in the business, you may find that your niche is stonework, landscape installs or even mowing.

            Check your state's fictitious name listing... In FL they will let you register a fictitious name even if it's in use elsewhere in the state, but my county's licensing office wouldn't let us get a license due to someone else having almost the same name at the other end of the state. Don't know how it is there, but better to check before wasting the registration fee, and finding out you have to jump through hoops to get licensed. Took us over a month to get ours fixed, and once you register the name they charge the same fee again to get it changed.

              thanks for the response

              thanks everybody. i have pretty much decided to not go with the turfdoctor, because i have been receiving mostly negative feedback, which is what i wanted. so, thanks, you guys may be helping me save a lot of money. Now, just to come up with a new catchy name. As far as people paying a fee for consulting, i'm not expecting that. i'm just trying to market myself as more professional than my competitors. by calling myself a consultant I am trying to relate to the client that I am not just going to do the same thing for each client, and that each lawn will be managed to fit its needs.

              i would love to hear any more responses.
