And Jack D. can't get one in his area this season, however he still smokes the ladies running orange.

Very soon 2 cycle power equipment will be a thing of the past...
More & more 2 cycle manufactures are not able to meet the strict 2 cycle compliance demands imposed by the New & Yearly Improving EPA carb standards.
I've only ran the Honda 4 stroke Trimmer an hour or so at one time, it was about 1 1/2 to 2 pounds heavier which is a lot to me because I know how much that is in a all day gig trimming, but the Sheer Power, Performance, Smooth Running, Far Less Vibration & Lower Noise Level more than off set the weight by a country mile!
What gets me is, it's been proven that the majority of pollution from the 2 cycles comes from operators spilling the fuel, oil & mix while refueling? Thanks EPA for nothing!
Maybe the EPA should do studies on themselves & while they are at it trying to ruin peoples lives maybe they should check out the pollution the IRS spews on upon us too!

Ummm... If it's a 4 stroke why does it use a 50:1 mix??? What's the point if you still have to use a 2 stroke mix??? Not that it isn't a nice blower... 224 MPH blows my Stihl away, but it's also 5 LBs heavier, and if I dish out the $$$ to get a 4 stroke I don't wanna be mixing 2 cycle mix for the thing. Sounds like they are doing the Stihl 4-Mix meets EPA requirements BS.
If Honda would come out with a backpack blower then I'd consider switching to their 4 strokes, but I wouldn't switch unless all equipment was one or the other.

Those specs don't seem too impressive. The only thing that might 'seem' nice is the 224mph flow. But you have to be using a different nozzle to get it. Use the different nozzle (smaller), and you will likely have less CFM air flow.a.k.a.---> Erich

As there are no standards for measuring cfm and Air Velocity the best comparison spec is cc's.
Big Bad and Blue... 79.7cc
Generally a company will underrate their cfm and AV so they can bump it during the models lifespan w/out introducing a new model. Think 420, 751, 7001, Magnum etc..
Please note that recent lawsuits have made hp rating illegal. The magical Duraforce which went from 5.5hp to 6hp. to 6.5hp to 7hp with Zero changes now must be rated by cc.

The cc's of an engine don't tell the whole story at all. If they did, we would all be running Ryobi's 35cc line trimmers.....and they would trump all of our commercial 25cc trimmers. If they did, the Suburu 4cyl would not be faster and better than the 8cyl BMW.
It's funny that you say manufactures will underrate their blowers when they first come out. But 2 months ago you said Stihl OVERrated their 600 blower.
Your mind only thinks in terms to prove your own thoughts. Whether you need to invent thouughts to get there. So that gives you a 50% correct rate at best.a.k.a.---> Erich

Please note that cc is the most accurate spec avail. for the unit.
Real life experience is the final word. Please be advised that Stihl had to rate their 600 higher to compete.
Jack D. has put the Redmax 8000 and BR600 in thick wet Oak Leaves and the 8000 is significantly more powerful.
Jack D. believes, based on the cc rating that Big Bad and Blue will smoke Big Red.
He will report Spring 06.
