  • Meijers Bid

I have the chance to bid on 11 Meijers stores in Indiana, mowing. I bid these same stores last year at $32 and acre and lost the bid. Most all of the individual stores are between 8 and 13 acres.

Not really sure how much they went for, but if you figure 4 acre an hour cut, bid at $25 per acre, thats still $100 an hour. Thats running Dixie Chopper with 60" or 72" deck. They are all located just off I-465 around Indianapolis, easy access to all stores, within 20 miles drive and get em all.

Would probably have to be done over a couple days to get them all.

Anyone bid and won any Meijers contracts? How you guys bid?

Meijers stores here in Michigan are nortorious for going thru landscape companys. I Have three locations within a 6 mile radious of me and have watched several different companies come and go. In one of the locations last year I saw 3 different lawn service companys come and go. But maybe that is just these locations. However $25 an acre seems low.

I agree, and I normally would not even consider a per acre bid that low. But like I said, the per hour cut still allows $100 plus per hour. This is secondary income to our business anyway, our main work is landscape and installs.

The mowing helps pay overhead and labor for employees.
