  • 32" Wright Stander vs. 34" Gravely Z rider

Well im hopefully going to have enough business soon to add another z to my collection... i Have a 62" now i would like to replace my walkbehind with a mid size rider . Ive used my old partners 34" gravely z several times now... really like it but i thought id demo the wright stander 32. I will defenitly be getting the gravely i did not like the wright at all. The deck was too hard to adjust and i didnt like the bar hittin my shin on every bump. Reason im not going with a 36 inch is because the 2 inches makes a huge difference in the amount of gates i can fit into around here. by the way the wright and the gravely are both about the same price in the low to mid 4k range.

    Mid Mounts on Small Lots

The 32" Stander uses the same tractor as the redesigned 36" w/narrower tires. The narrow tires, coupled w/the operators weight causes rutting and scuffing on turns which means more 3 point turns.

The 34" Gravely will also need to be 3 point turned frequently, will rut, will be poor on slopes and ditches and has poor trimability.

Jack D. would suggest a 36" Stander or 36" Tracerhp or if lucky, you may be able to find a used Viking 32".

    Good luck

Every time i post about the gravely everyone fails to see my point that the 34 will fit through about 30% more gates then the 36" Thats alot less push mowing. Yes its not the greatest on steep slopes .. but i have so few yards with steep slopes that can even use any larger then a 21" that im not overly concerned with that. The narrow tires on the 32 stander make it less stable then the gravely any day.

I'm with you man... LOL Don't get riled up by all the negatives... I know lots of LCOs around here that are showing up with Gravely 34s on their trailers, and everyone I've met that's used it loves it.

I guess everyone's entitled to their opinions, but who cares... If it works for what you want then it's the right machine.

I have 4 52inch standers that work great for us, I would never buy a 32 or 36 inch stander. I would never use it enough to justify the price, and they rip up the lawn badly.
