  • Here comes the cheapo's !!!

I will not bend this year for customers. I'm sick of giving my time and money away to everyone and taking it in the hind quarters. If a customer doesn't like my price, then find someone else. This goes for my regulars. Sometimes the regulars try to get double the work out of me for half the price. If I hear my customers say" I'm on a fixed income" one more time, I will go nuts. I want to tell them that they have put me on a fixed income. Where do people justify that they can get away with paying $10/hr for my labor??? Sometimes I want to give them a crash course in business and the expense related to it. I have a set rate that I charge for jobs and that's what it's going to be this year...Period!

    Had to vent.

    Have a good day

I always tell them that I wished I was on a fixed income.

yah, always someone trying to get something for nothing, happens in a lot of industries so i dont really take it personally. have a guy whos owns a car shop as a customer. Wanted to know if i could "throw some mulch on the beds next time i was through". I said sure "long as at my next oil change, you throw in a free brake job", he laughed and then paid the tab for the mulch.

Don't even waste your time. People who complain about the prices don't have the ability the understand how a business operates. I've started in on conversations about this in the past and only get ignorant looks out of it.

I once had an old lady offer me $2/ hour to pull weeds around her house. This was back in my early mowing days and I originally quoted her something like $15/hour (which she thought was 'highway robbery'). I believe she still thought it was 1940. I politely declined her offer and walked away almost laughing.

But to answer the question....it's because of the highschool boys (or even Joe Scrub) that will do it for that measily $10. To them, $10/hour is better than working at Burger King for $5.15/hour. They are insuranceless and drive a vehicle mom and pops pay for (or just a pile of $hi+). They have little to no overhead what-so-ever. This low pricing trickles down upon us more professional individuals trying to make an honest living. Just sucks.....

                    LOL, Fixed Income!

My parents used to tell people all the time they lived on a fixed income... They got enough money to burn.

They used to spend about an hour a month (yes a Month) on their business & make $1,500 a week (Yes a Week). They got tired of it, because that hour a month was a real big hassle to them. So they sold it & put the money in the bank & now they make less than $1,500 a month on it. They also both draw SS checks & my step father is pulling in 2 other retirement checks. They're on a fixed income!

It saves them a lot of money too... Folks over 60 to 65 years old, if they didn't have the money and was on a small fixed income... First in most cases they would never call you or use you. In most cases fixed income means they got plenty money.
