  • Roll out lawn?

Has anyone used this product? What were the results? I do not like the results we get from hydroseeding and I think this will be a better option.

Because the system is so easy to use, it is less labor-intensive than traditional growing methods. BlueYellow fills the price and performance gap between seed and sod, making this innovative system both convenient and affordable. The one-step application process is truly unique; the product easily contours to the existing terrain and around obstacles such as trees, bunkers, drainage inlets and irrigation components. Because there is no calibration required and individual applications of seed and fertilizer are eliminated,

Ahhhh,,,, gonna take more than that to sell me.

The cellulose-based substrate secures the seed and fertilizer in place - enhancing germination - then quickly biodegrades. The substrate maintains its integrity for several weeks, protecting the seed and fertilizer from wind, washouts and other damaging factors, reducing the potential for fertilizer run-off and costly rework of the course.

    Ummmm,,, so does hydro.

“As athletic director of Whitefield Academy, in Louisville, KY, I am building a new baseball complex here on campus. I needed to relevel our field and plant new grass in the fall so that we can be ready for the spring season of 2005. I called Blue Yellow and was able to talk to John Martin and he gave me incredible advice as to what would be best suitable to grow here in our environment

    Couldnt afford a landscaper?

“I purchased enough BlueYellow for a test plot in the front yard of my new home. I also planted a side-by-side test plot using conventional seeding methods. Within a few days I could see the BlueYellow grass; the conventional seeding took weeks to achieve the same visual impact.

Ya but did ya take yer kid out and play ball on it? And,,,,,,,,,,, why ya testing plots Je Bob Homeowner? And good luck with that unmatching front yard!

An added bonus was no blowing straw in my yard or throughout the neighborhood.

Its just kills me people still think straw is a must.

With hydroseeding, the weeds come up in the thinner spots before the grass fills in. That means for hydroseeding I have to work a lot harder in advance to make sure they’re all eliminated.

Ya. Ok.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, this is where you just nod and smile.

“So far I’ve only used it on residential yards, but I’m real pleased with the results. Maybe you don’t get ‘instant grass’, but it costs a lot less than sod.

Thats my favorite one. "you dont want sod lady! I got some paper towel lookin stuff that costs less!

Ok,, no really. I seen the publications on this stuff clear back in 2002,,, maybe 2001. My initial thoughts were " cool ,, now theyll have something to keep the penn mulch company in the store." But,,,,,,,,,,,, ill give it more credit than that. Alot more actually. But............. they pissed me off when they released to golf heads first and not us. Its theyre product,, but,,,,,,, i dont need an explanation. It just did.

    Heres my take.
    1) Great for slopes! Excellent actually. Way to go! But yer not splittin atoms here guys.
    So quit actin like it!

    2) ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,, i cant think of a 2nd.............and no the "weeds" crap aint cuttin it either.

It would be interesting to hear from someone who actually tried this product , but from the page it looks like a viable alternative to just seeding...

I didn't see a price , did you find a price per sq foot???

Also where do you find the small demo pieces???

I wish they had that in Home depot and you could just take some demo pieces home each time you visited the store just to get an idea how good it really works.... Plus with all the shopping i do in H.D i`d have enough demo pieces to finish one of my rental properties in no time at all....

Looks like cool stuff but as i said will be looking forward to hearing from someone who has actually had hands on use.....

      Sincerely TRANS..........

Woops , Mike slipped in a response possibly answering my questions while i was typing and eating dinner and watching the Abrams report.....

      Lets see what Mike Thinks....

      Hmmmm :

Some good points their Seascape.... I like the telling the lady you got some paper towel looking stuff in the truck that will work just fine!!!!

Good one , but wouldnt it be the truth!!!!

I sent away for a small sample to try. I think this product is the most cost effecive product I have seen. I think that hydroseeding has its place, but I am always looking for something that will be better. This product would eliminate the need for expensive equipment. All you would have to do is get the lawn to finish grade, roll out and water. Can't be much more simple than that. Hydroseeding does make quite a mess when you have a dumb azz that sprays everything else besides the lawn.

The product cost is higher than I can buy sod, but my labor cost will be dramatically lower.

Here is a copy of the email I received from the company.

I can send a brochure that includes a small sample of BlueYellow as well as other product information. Sample rolls containing 240 sq ft of material are available for $50 delivered to your home or office.

We feature two commercial roll sizes, 6’x200’ and 3’x333’ that are priced at $252 and $210 respectively, plus tax and freight from Milwaukee , WI . Our Northern Turf Mix, a three-way mix of Kentucky bluegrass, perennial rye and creeping red fescue is very suitable for your region.

BlueYellow’s all-in-one format provides an economical and convenient method for turf establishment. The individually wrapped and labeled rolls are ready to go whenever you are. Installation cost is only a faction of that for conventional grassing and sodding methods. Plus, we use only the highest quality seed and fertilizer ensuring a healthy, long-lasting lawn for your customers. The exceedingly uniform distribution of seed fertilizer inside the absorbent, 100% biodegradable cellulose matting results in a very uniform germination, reduced weed pressure and a better looking lawn faster than by conventional methods

If you would like to place an order contact Cindy Peeples at 800 667 3268. Thank you for your interest in BlueYellow.
