  • Brand New to the Bus. HELP!!!!

Need extra income. I am the only income in the house with a brand new baby. I have access to the equipment that I need I just need to get rolling. I did lawn care in the past. I was in the right place in the right time. I knew someone at a real estate office and they hooked me up. That was years ago and the same people aren't around and the same stuff I did years ago is not working. Done the flyer in the paperbox deal. Done the newspaper ad. Not connecting very good. Any pointers. I just need enough lawns to fill for a part time basis. HELP!!!!

    Advertising

In our town in GA, we have a weekly circular that advertises yard sales, auto, furniture..... etc. The cost is about $300 for 6 months to place a 1x2 ad. My business tripled after I placed our ad there. It seems to be geared for middle to low income readers. Start small, be patient and give attention to detail. As you grow, you can weed out the lower paying, less desireable customers. One thing to remember is to be patient. Remember... if you mow it, they will come!

Someone posted this same link here many months ago.

      Enjoy.

yeah, fork out a little for a good ad - you will reach many potential customers in one shot. Be exact as possible about what you offer. Personally, i'm burnt on fliers, and i like the idea of letting them find me.

I'm not certain it will work in your demographic, but I followed the new-housing developments in my area. I walked neighborhoods and talked to home owners and offered a complimentary mow & blow. It was enough to get me out the gate on a part time basis, now I'm turning work away because I have a second job I want to quit. Hopefully I can quit my other job and be full time soon.

Patience!! Don't give up on your flyers. Do walk-throughs and talk to people. Even offer them a free mow and blow. The ad is usually a good deal, but it can't be a major paper. Stick to the local community ads.
