  • Dixie Chopper 60" X-Blade setup

Looking for comments from actual "DC" owners using the new X-blade system vs. using a gator and a low lift fold blade when used in conjunction with the double blade bracket?

Why would the bracket change the performance from simply bolting up a low lift and gator?

You don't need a bracket. The bracket is 1/4" thick, so your top blade edge will be almost 1/2" above the bottom blade edge... that's way too high.

Just place the top blade on top of the bottom blade. Position it in either a + or X, which ever you prefer, and tighten the bolt. The only disadvantage is when you hit a tree root or other obstacle, your blades will "bunch" into a tight X and require a braker bar to loosen the nut. But otherwise it's great mowing. I always use a FLAT blade on the top to reduce HP drain and still get the two extra cutting edges.

I don't want to have to deal with the blades being forced together.

I am going to break down and just buy the X-blade setup from the Dixie dealer.

With this set up both blades are operating in the same plane and it's been factory tested and approved if a liability issue comes to the surface in the future.

Gravely makes a double blade bracket that keeps the blades on top of one another with no space between the two.
