  • 28 acre bid

i just got a call to mow 28 acres its all open field. i have never bid on that many acres what do yall normally charge for that big of a tract? i will be using a 60 inch exmark if i get the job i will probably buy a second big machine.

Just bid it by the hour, figure up how many hours you think it will take and bid accordingly

If it is 4 feet tall watch for rocks and other obstacles if you are going to take that eXmark out there, you'll tear up those spindels in a hurry if you hit stuff like that.

if its tall i will probably try and sub the job out and just make a little off of the top. then i will see if i can just start cutting it with my exmark or what ever they want to do. if its a one time cut i am gonna bid high.i am tired of these people wanting someone to clean up there mess just to have some lowballer start mowing it after all the hard work is done.

For 3500 beans you can get a gray market Izuzu or Yanmar tractor and a five foot PTO driven mower.....

Hold on here......28 acres, open field, and you think your 60" ZTR, plus maybe another one will suffice? LOL. Better check what your competition will be using when they are awarded the job.

Listen to GeeVee.....he has the right idea. I'm gonna assume this isn't weekly, but rather bi-weekly, maybe even monthly? Don't expect those ZTRs to zoom though the grass all too fast.

Most likely one of your competitors will bid it at $20 an acre, maybe even less. Just a heads up.

well it depends i could always go rent a tractor. the guy said there was some storm debris on the property from hurricane rita that needed to be removed also.
it all depends on what kind of finish cut he wants. if he wants a nice cut he wont get it for 20.00 an acre not from me anyway. i dont think a lowballer with a craftsman mower could even complete the job. so we shall see its raining here so it will be a while before anything happens. has it been dry in kansas? we are 14 inches under our normal rain rate and i have an acre pond that i am hoping will be full by the end of summer its suppose to rain all next week i sure hope it does its a dust bowl here in south louisiana.

I don't believe 28 acres of open feild has to be groomed! MM is right about the $20.00 per acre with a tractor and a brush hog! All day long here in Mich

The tractors are ALL over the place here.

I can help you find one if you want. true, With 28 acres, it aint gonna be turf grass. And, with your own pond, you need the tractor anyway......
