  • Getting Started Into Lawn and Landscaping

    Hey guys,
I know I am green as can be about getting started into this business. I have done this type of work for others but not by myself. I would like to know what should be my first step breaking into this business without spending to much right off. I know that I am going to have to buy a truck, I have a trailor and mower and etc.. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

my suggestion: wait 7 months and start again. Starting this kind of business at the end of june is a bad idea simply because all the people who would be looking for someone to mow their lawn; have a contract with someone by now. Other suggestions: keep reading this forum, don't buy your equipment at a big box store, don't spend $40K on a new truck, don't buy some old hang-dog commercial mower for $400 if you can avoid it.

i have to disagree, i have picked up 5 accounts just in the past 2 weeks and didnt put out a single flyer, door hanger, etc. just word of mouth and people next door to current customers. but it maybe just here in florida, its been dry for months and now it is starting to pick up again and get real hot, people not wanting to do it themselves.

Yeah I thought about the location after I posted. Here in the more ah, northerly climes; lawn mowing is strictly a part-year business.
