  • Woods wb 48'' mower?

Anyone heard of these? There is a "older" one (acording to the owner) it has a 48" deck and is a hydro. He said it doesn't look like a newer WB (whatever that means). Price is 600$. Was thinking of picking it up for a back-up. Any info you guys know about it?

If it runs, and you have no backup units, pick it up as soon as you can. That is a great price for a hydro 48" w/b. What I would suggest is having the guy go with you to your dealer, and having your dealer take a look at it for any problems. Then tell the guy you'll think about it one last time and call him. Then call the dealer and ask him if he thinks it's worth $600 (which is better than asking the dealer in front of the seller and putting pressure on him). If it costs you $20 for him to look at it, that's still cheap for the peace of mind you'll get out of knowing it's a solid mower.

I picked up an older hydro 48" Ferris (it didn't look like a newer w/b either) last year for $700. It's no great mower, but it's reliable and cuts pretty efficiently, which is all I'm looking for in back-up mowers.

NJ, Here is the actual ad in the paper "LAWN MOWER Woods Commercial Walk Behind, 48" deck, hydrostatic transmission, $600"

Guy says it runs and starts fine. Just never heard of them before. It sounds like it would be wort $600 though. The guy also said it was not as quick turning as newer mowers....whatever at means??
