I am picking up larger contracts for next year and I am currently using just a pick up truck. What I am trying to figure out is whether to use a ford, chevy, or dodge for the dump I am going to buy. I am also looking to find out what size I should get a 1 ton or bigger...I have been pricing f-350's 450's and 550's and I cant decide on which I should get....any advice or help? Also I am looking for new pruners any suggestions on brands I am looking at a Shindaiwa teeth adjust pole pruner any advice guys?

Well you can't get a 3/4 ton with a dump body...atleast not from a dealer maybe aftermarket but it's not really worth the money for what you could possibly haul. If you are looking just to move mulch, grass, dirt, leaves and lawn equipment around get a 1 ton dump. If you want to get into junk removal, removing asphalt, delivering crushed stone, hauling your bobcat or larger tractor around go with a F-550. Which is what I am in the process of buying to complement my F-350.

Perhaps you don't need a dump body truck? I would look for a 2000-2001 Dodge 4x4 2500 w/ 24V Cummins Turbo Diesel. These trucks are stout, take a beating, and when eqipped with a Cummins pretty bullet prof. I would suggest new, but you didn't state whether price was an important criteria. With the money you save from buying a dump box truck, you could just get a dump trailer or gooseneck and go that route.

You are in the same situation a lot of us are or have gone through. I use two 3/4 ton. I am looking at a dump insert for one of them. I have debated on a dump trailer but right now I am not sure I would use it enough to justify. Look at what you are going to be pulling or hauling and what you can afford. Also consider the cost of fuel, cost of the truck and the cost of license and insurnance My trucks have done a good job for me. As we have grown we have looked at larger rigs but the 3/4 tons are good to go right now.

Thanks for the imput...my company is getting into more patios walkways retaining walls and I am think of purchasing a tow behind hydro seeder. Which I think I might need a 550 to haul when fully loaded with hydro. But other than that Id be hauling a landscape trailer enclosed with 2 ZTR's and a walk behind. Sometimes a Equipment trailer with a bobcat but nothing more then an s300
