  • Where Do I Go From Here?!!?

I started a little late this season.(Early June). But, I have picked up 3 neighborhood associations and I have put an ad in a local paper which is getting some response. I have written a business plan and set some goals. So far I am on track, But I want to know how to get to the next level.
I can not agree more with the people who say customer service is the #1 key, so that is what I focus on. But, It is a "Wal Mart" world out there and it seems alot of people are willing to give up quality sevice for cheap rates. I have already missed out on a few jobs where I was simply under bid. Should I be more willing to lower my prices now in the start up phase or should I stick with the higher quality and hope for the best. HELP!!!!
Also, should I expect a better response to ads and flyers in late winter early spring??
By-the-way, I am in Indianapolis, IN

If you just started you are at the bottom of the food chain. You are only going to be able to get all the junk the players in your area won't touch.

The reason you got those HOA jobs is because of price. They almost always will go with the cheapest price. Unless you have some real productive equipment you might want to do some time studies on those jobs.

You need to go get your pesticide license as soon as possible. Your goal is to get to the point that the property owner contracts YOU for all his lawn and landscape maintenance and light landscaping needs.

Until then you are going to have to kiss a lot of frogs.

You are on track TKO but like LS said study the numbers. Learn your market.
You'll need to get a good base built and you'll go thru some %$# doing it.
      Good luck.
