i had an interview with my dads company for a maintenance person for the 6 offices they have.

i would be able to work this job 30-40 hours a week and still keep up with the clients i have on the side.

sad thing is i would never be able to expand my business without either hiring someone to work while i'm working the other job or quitting this possible new job for me.

other thoughts i'm considering are getting a part time job somewhere where i can slowly back off the hours as my business grows.

I've been considering an Aquarium setup and maintenance business. Mainly for doctors, dentist, hospitals, nursing homes etc.... I don't think I would like to do it for residential. Imagine how much they would talk to you and waste time if you were actually in the house trying to do your job.

Would like to make it 2 year contract mandatory....then
              $150+ Setup Cost
              $50+ 14 day Maintenace

A 55 Gallon setup would run me about $500 for a nice setup so....
              $200 setup + 3 months maintenace = break even
(not really break even b/c I would retain ownership of all equipment)
But after 3 months I'd start seeing profit from each account.

Hopefully once I got in the door with an aquarium I could get there mowing and landscape contracts to. Not really connected but always a possiblity.

              Any fish guys on here?

I have a stump grinder that has been extra good to me. After I paid for it I bought a 35hp New Holland 4X4 tractor with a loader to compliment the stump grinder. This lead to some tree clean-up jobs with a local tree surgeon. That opened up a little firewood income. I built a logsplitter that runs off the tractor hydraulics.

In the last couple of years I've been planting wildlife food plots for deer hunters. I'm in North Florida and we have a lot of hunters come up from south Florida to property they own or lease. Most of these guys don't have time or the equipment to do the planting. I keep their roads open and mowed and even re-fill their feeders with corn.

I also have a few cows and do a little welding once in a while.

Have you ever considered 'renting' and maintaining house plants for offices/waiting rooms? I faintly remember someone who did this and they actually made good money.

A girl I once dated back in the early 70's moved to Huston Tx and went into that business. She had Restaurants as clients and build and then sold a business for a Million dollars. I believe success in that business all depends on your market area. Also in the 70's, what I like to call fern garden restaurants were very popular at the time. I don't see those type of restaurants any more.

I am very interested in getting my dealer's Lic to sell trailers. My area does has a couple but they don't move them due to their really high prices. But if I mainly stick to 18ft and smaller I think I can turn them fairly quickly with the high military population that comes and goes in my area.

50in Cub Cadet Air cooled 22hp Kaw ZTR
                      JD 215 Garden tractor
                      2 18ft Equipment Trailer
                      SAME (Deutz) 43hp T diesel 4x4 tractor w/Fel & lots of implements

How I got to this point I will never know.....I swear this kind of started by mistake and has just taken on a life of its own.

Very interesting idea, i've never even thought about it. Would be an excellent addition to my aquarium plans.

If you're seriously considering the idea, I'd think one of your biggest obstacles would be keeping the plants watered.

Planting gels have been around for awhile now, mostly used when planting trees and shrubs though. You could experiment and see how well it'd work with house plants.

Going to start also in the fall advertising Xmas lighting installs....figuring $75hr plus doubling my material cost with take down and storage extra. Also figuring 2nd story work is extra.
