Yeah I got a TomTom for my guys in the maintenance truck. They said the day after I installed it they had a lady stop them while working and ask how to get to a certain home. They said they typed the address in the Tomtom and showed her right how to get there! She was very pleased as were my guys! Now, I can call them and tell them to go to a new house while they are out and perform work - and the good thing is I don't have them calling me every 5 minutes going...uh, where are we??? Should have gotten it a long time ago...live and learn.

Before i make a final decision and the TOM-TOM got much better feedback.....

It may be bogus but a lot with the magilin claimed it was much slower accessing the satellites and went back and exchanged for the tom-tom.......

Actually i might have to go recheck it may be the other way around but i know from what people say you want the one with the built in antenna because it accesses the satellites faster then the external 1 plus it has the wider screen and tells you direction before you pass your destination while the other was so slow you got the notice to turn around and go back the other way after you went buy the place your going.......

Theirs also the multiple destinations you can program in at one time sending you from place to place or job to job after programming the unit 1 time instead of after each individual stop.....

I'm pretty sure it was the tom-tom a bunch of people said would eventually take over the market because it does all the important features that you bought it for and many also bought various brands that played bluetooth , MP3 and hooked threw the radio and the buyers said it was a distraction , and a waste and went with the simple tom-tom.......

Audio quality was another thing because i think it was the tom tom that was said in the reviews to have superior audio quality along with the quick satellite access so you dont have to even look at the screen when driving and end up having a wreck.....

Regardless why not make a list in case the reviews were bogus listing the pros and cons both of ya found on each because i dont wanna buy return , then find somthing else better......

Radioshack had a tom -tom for 139 i believe with voice and screen directions but i dont mind paying more because i dont like turning around and wasting time when useing my bang around mobile but i dont trust the guys at RS enough because according to them everything is great even though they never used the freakin things.....

Tomorrow ill do a comprehensive search read up ,and im gonna get somthing that wont be making mistakes regardless of the price but i dont care about the romance features like music and bluetooth when i want accurate directions:laughing:

Im figurin on a gps tommorrow along with a new Slim High Def 37 TV to hang on the bedroom wall because the one i previously bought is in the shop and went out 2 weeks after the labor warrenty ran out and although the parts will be free i know im gonna take it you know where on the labor which theyll double..... Gonna also pick up tommorrow and put the other in the 3rd guest room for when dad comes to visit if i ever get it back going on a month now usung my old 42 with a blown left speaker listering to mono and thats driving me crazy plus the best toy the new camcorder on sale with no tape but tapes 30+ hours or so on a 60 gigabite built in hard drive so tommorrow im going to really get what i wanted for christmas...

well as long as that comes in tommorrow like was promised:laughing:

Picked up my shiny new 12000 watt generator yeasterday that should run everything threwout the house with the central air and hot water heater going also and not skip a beat during the next hurricane that probably never will happen but boys will be boys....

I have a TOMTOM and it works great. Good audio and the screen is easy to see even in direct sunlight. I would recommened it.

Now that you have a G.P.S you can get into this winter hobby

There are millions of geocaches worldwide, just waiting for you to find them. There are probably even some within walking distance of where you are right now. Visit Geocaching.com to see just how many geocaches are nearby and to learn how to start finding them.

I am already doing the geocaching thing. Lots of fun. I use a hand held Explorist 400. Unlike the Tom Tom or other car based gps mine is water proof and totally portable. (fits in a pocket) It wont do what most of you want though. I cant input an address and it wont give me turn by turn directions. But hey that isnt what I bought it for.

This is the one I got:

                    Pros:

                    - Gives you the next direction and then before you get there it repeats it...so no missing your direction for sure (and if you do you are either stupid or deaf)
                    - Night and day modes
                    - Volume adjustment that will go so loud you can hear it with music on and windows down
                    - Touch screen is sensitive enough w/o being too touchy
                    - On screen buttons are large enough to hit accurately while driving and bumping around
                    - Communicates with at least 11 satellites (that's the most I've seen it do so far)
                    - Never hasn't been able to find an address yet!
                    - Automaticly (and QUICKLY) redirects you to your destination if you miss your turn! <<<VERY NICE AND HELPFUL FEATURE!!
                    - Connects to computer for easy updates
                    - About 15 english speaking voices and more are downloadable
                    - I could go on and on but just trust me...get this one!

                    Cons:

                    - None found so far. Will update if any occur.

I bought mine to go on vacation to Gatlinburg, TN last year and it was a huge help in navigating an unfamiliar town.

Steve-00000 Check out Geocaching.com You would find that impossible to do with your average map and compass. It can be lots of fun and entertaining.

Yea im sure horse and buggy pulling rolling drums filled with water to flatten the grass instead of cutting it would be the best choice also if we never tried new technology like a gas mower......

Getting the exact location delivered via a voice system saying turn right here at the next intersection 400 feet ahead of so and so and proceed to the next then exit and enter I-whatever north in the left lane all within time of preventing an accident or merging into the wrong lane because its not clear if right goes east or west is much harder then unravelling that worn out old map that's out of date , gives directions to the nearest 5 miles leaving you guessing and you have to put those 3 inch spectacles on to read while driving off the road looking through the glove box looking for the map DELA moved over into her car the day before....

Steev-ee-oooo you have to try it before you knock it and this little item could cut hours and gas wastage off somebody's driving time if used properly........

I thought you were die hard productivity , and this makes it productive saving time , gas , and money and there all now very cheap and will be less then the old map-quest books that are out of date by the time their in circulation like everything else.....

Why do you have a computer when letters , books , and mail was the choice and best way for all of history for info and communication???????

Gotta get with the times baby!!!!!!!

Move up a little it will pay for itself in the 1st week if you get 5 new clients next year and want to find a dealer to fix the broken mower....
