Testing mowers?

I went to a local dealer to talk about buying a new hydro walk behind mower. I plan on testing the mower out before I make my decision, but the dealer said the only way he will do this is if I have a competitor there with his mower. The dealer said he feels so confident in his prices and mowers that he wants me to see them outperform his competitors. It’s either a good way to lower prices between the two or a good way to start a fight. Have any of you guys done this? And how did it turn out?

Your dealer sounds a little ****y.
If I have any questions in a mower qualifications, my dealer insists that I take it for a test drive prior to buying it to see for myself. I think it's just a ploy to get the median cut in front of his business.<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
