  • Dose anyone use the Job Clock Equipment?

I"m not sure about the cost but it looks like a easy system to use and would be very helpful in tracking each job and travle time. Any thought on it?

A very valuable asset to our company. It is not cheap, could range from about 1300-2000 to get you rollin, according to your situation. Reminds me, I must order a few items from them. Thanks for the reminder, will do that right now.............

      yard*****,
Thanks for the information. Glad to hear somone is using it. Makes it a little easyer to drop that kind of money knowing it works well in our applications. Do you have your crew leaders use it for every stop. Time in and out ..... drive time? Roughly... how many emply. do you have?

              Pupdog26,
For the winter I am down to 5 beeeoooccchhhhs, during the season, we always add beeeooocccchhhsss to whatever the workload requires. We have jobclocks in every truck and use it for in,out, lunch, travel time between jobs(which in turn gives you time spent on the job). You can use it for several other operations also, it is very versatile. Call them, tell them your situation and they will price it out from there depending on what bell and whistles you need. Also give them your fax # while you are thinking over it, they may send you a coupon for a free jobclock, I got one in my fax right before I pulled the trigger on it. It will save about 400.00 if they still do the fax coupons.

depending on how big my business actually gets i don't believe i'll be using a time clock at all. it all depends on how many employee's i would have and how much i trust them. besides they all would start at the shop every morning and i'd be starting there too so i'd know showed up on time and what time everyone got back to the shop so there'd be no lying about time worked.

                    Thanks, Great info,
I got my quote this afternoon. On the high side of your estimate. I told him I needed some time to look everything over before pulling the trigger. So he has my email address so I hope I get one of the cupons. I think this is a go for me.

                    Sporty,
Wait until you hire someone to work for you and send them out on a job. Trust everyone here, no matter how much you trust them you will question them on how long a job took. No one will work as fast as you when your not around. Extra stop at the gas station, bank, ..... girlfriends house. Who knows what their doing. On top of that this equipment can help improve your bidding on each job. Every stop will be logged, time in, time out, travle time, lunch, break...etc. Download the info to the pc and you can see from one week to the next how productive your crews are and what each job actualy cost you at the end of the day. In another current post thier was some very good info about running a profitible bus. even durring tuff econ. times. READ IT!!!!! As a bus. grows you have to do a lot more work to stay ahead of the compitition. This technology is a tool that can do that!!!

i'm not trying to argue. just putting my opinion out there like everyone else.

yes it is true no one will work as hard as i do at my business BUT i will never be putting someone out on a job by themselves. it all i ever do is end up hiring one person to work with me they will ALWAYS work with me. your points are very true and valid but i feel they only apply to me IF/WHEN i get to the point of having multipul crews. i will cross that bridge when i get there.

to be honest the time clock thing i'm sure is one of the MANY things that haven't really crossed my mind yet because i'm not at that point where i need those things. but right now, this year, this moment i don't want to ever have to mess with some of that stuff. so many that means i wanna keep my business small to just one crew of 2-3 people max??? who knows. at this point i can say i really don't know how big i want to get. i guess it all depends on how much work i'm willing to do and if i wanna follow the proper advice to be sucessfull enough to have multipul crews.

As a business owner, you need to keep a open mindset, continually seeking breakthroughs that'll put your past your competition. Taking your business 'one day at a time' will only yield you limited success, or in my opinion - failure. You're leaving a lot in the bag running on the mentality you currently do.

My 2 cents.......not arguing, just discussing.

                            Tracking Workers

I use the mobility clocks by sundial time systems - small, easy, cant break em, and they are great for counting off quantities too (helpful for billing)

But nothing beats having workers who don't need a timeclock. I only have two workers like that but they are pure gold! Those two guys refuse to take breaks, and they are no nonsense work till the job is done kind of guys.

And no, they are not going to go work for anyone else

The sundial stuff is here - portable time clocks
