  • Pro Weather Program

You guys should check this out,, try a free trial. I am running the construction pro version trial and will purchase. You can do a million things with it including live streaming radar in 3 different modes. You cant input job sites and it will give you current and forcast even help you figure out how wet it will be using vaporization rates vs precipitation.Track lightning,,warnings, advisories ect........... list goes on and on.

They run it up at my local farm depot and showed it to me, think its $25.00 mo and they have a mobile version you can use on a phone. I had to call the 800 tech # in my activation mail to start figuring it out but they were freakin great and showed me alot in about 15 mins,, said I aint scratched the surface yet call back anytime. Its by far the best weather setup I have ever seen.

Hmmm.....$25.00 a month. If I want the scoop on the weather, I call the local flight service station and get the weather for a 50 mile radius complete with forecast and weather synopsis free of charge. The cost? 2 minutes of cell phone time or free if I call from home. Can't beat that.

I'm kinda a weather freak. I check it all the time so I'd be into the phone version if it has livee radar and stuff. The "how wet its going to be" thing which analyzes how much of the rain will have burned off by when sounds pretty cool too.

I'm kinda in the same boat here with you. I also love gadgets, but the problem is we don't get enough rain around here to justify the cost!!!

You should be able to get the realtime radar and other stuff free over the internet at www.accuweather.com

So you're the reason it takes me 5 min on hold when I call for a brief?
Avaition weather is my first choice, and free.

Hummmmmm. dont look bad but the sensitivity is jacked up on accuweather. I can tell because theres a big difference in the radars when i just looked at both. Accuweather is showing alot of activity that is not there or reaching the ground. So.... it could make me call off something for nothing? It looks pretty good though but still has you guessing EXACTLY what is happening on the ground or what will be happening on the ground.

If I send a crew over to the other side of the city because I think the rain will miss them,,,,, but it doesnt and they spend 3 hrs driving, unloading working a bit than getting washed out having to reload and drive back all for basically nothing........... if you had to guess what do you think 3 guys would cost me with fuel? Place answer here_________. Now how many actuall hrs do they need to work the next day to make up for that loss and get me back to where I would be ($$$) had I didnt roll them out the day before (or rolled them somewhere else) place answer here_________.

Now come up with some sorta math method to make answer #1 disappear. Place answer here_________. Relax..... you cant its TIME once its gone you cant get it back.

Thats just radar (real radar not "easy to use") I can do all sorts of stuff with this program. Vaporization, map layers future radar storm corridors ground lightning cloud lighning temps/feels like humidity dew points winds precip est advisories watches warnings add highways railroads county lines cities..... save job site locations click and get current info on that site ( i got 350' out in Zanesville next week) ......... and thats just 1 page.

You'll soon learn to discipher the sensitivity. The three things I do each day before starting work.
                    1) listen to the forcast from a reputable radio station
                    2) check my local radar on the net, with 3 different weather services to get a feel for any bad weather that was predicted.
                    3) go outside, smell the air, feel the air, sense the air, wind movement, clouds movement, humidity, etc.

The radar I use is dead accurate to within 2 or 3 minutes as the bad weather approaches. If it sounds like a bumpy weather for the day, we put off all big jobs until it passes, which allows us to catch up on a lot of little jobs.

Interesting, I will try it.for free... before um, um, I post on here that I dont need it. Thanks seascape for the info, I think 25 a month is way less than I have lost in the past guessing which way the wind blows, I have said in frustration many times that it is sad that we have robots on mars and I cant plan a week ahead, perhaps those days are over, anyway,it is feb. and I'm bored, cant hurt to try

On days that look like they are Iffy as far as the weather/rain goes I bring my laptop with me and scout around for an unsecured wifi connection. Its kind of surprising how many people don't secure them. Log intp the NOAA site and you can get pretty accurate as far as getting hit by rain or not. Helped me plenty.

We just look at the cattle around here. If you see a herd and half of them are laying down.. 50% chance of rain.. works every time. MM probably knows what Im talking about. midwest thing

forget all the fancy devices. if i wanna know the weather i use 3 sources. i look outside, check the local weather and weather.com

the one i like is best is looking outside. weather people/programs don't know sheot. they make mistakes and are wrong a lot of the time. i go by what i see outside.
