Overrunning or 1 way roller clutch is shot.....

    possibly a sprag ....

Generally what they call a hard part , and big $$$$$ unless you know the builder and he slips in a used but good 1 but most shops dont carry junkyard cases and parts like i always did so your probably gonna pay the big $$$$$$ for sure......

Did ya do a lot of manual shifting rather then let the auto work automatically???

Dont know what to say except !!!!!

    Good Luck...........

Had that problem awhile back. Keept checking with repairmen as to why ?
Had a FOMOCO dealer that said they use to rebuild 'em all then found out that if you did a tranny flush and filter, problem went away with 95% of them !

Thats what I did and it fixed it.

Your not talking about a buzzing sound coming from the valve body are ya?????

Wasn't that the Maytag washing machine that had the slippage and ratcheting sound??????

          Call the Maytag man....

In my humble oppine if the other gears work fine and its limited to overdrive and 3rd a fluid change is only going to prolong the misery but that's just my opinion and i havent a clue if he`s describing the problem correctly / accuratly.....

          :laughing:T-puppy-T:laughing:

He`s always asleep anyway waiting for the phone to ring...... The Maytag man that is !!!!!!

had my 250 do the same. overdrive went out around 130k ran me around $1600 to rebuild it. gonna drive it til it does it in another 130k sure is better than paying 50k plus for a new one. zero payment beats $700
